Introduction to Blacksmithing

Welcome to the world of blacksmithing! This course will take you systematically through all of the processes required to start your own blacksmithing journey. You will end up with the basic skills and a few hand-forged objects.

Class description

This course will open the doors to you to the world of blacksmithing. You will learn all 7 of the basic process which will allow you to start on your own blacksmithing journey. A discussion on forge safety and hammer technique will be followed by practical, step-by-step forging tuition. You will draw out, upset, bend, twist, punch, cut and taper steel with only fire and a hammer.

By the end of the course, you will have honed your basics by forging some traditional hooks and one other project of your choosing (to be selected from a list of options, but feel free to bring your own ideas and we can have a go!)

Most classes can be adapted to accommodate various physical abilities and neurodivergent needs. Please reach out to discuss how I can best support your learning style or physical requirements.
