Forge your own heirloom-quality kitchen utility knife in this hands-on two-day workshop, learning every step from forging and heat treating to grinding, handle making, and sharpening. Guided by myself and renowned fine furniture maker, Phoebe Everill, you will leave with a unique finished knife and the skills behind it.

Forge a Carving Axe + Make a Hardwood Handle

Learn to forge your own small woodcarving hatchet from high-carbon steel with me, before being guided by renowned fine furniture maker, Phoebe Everill, to hand-carve and fit a custom hardwood handle, to create a finished tool of your own. An intensive, two-day course in which you will forge a pair of bush-crafting knives; a general purpose, full-tang camping knife and a refined, hidden-tang whittling knife. By the end of the course, you will have the skills and knowledge to make your own wilderness and camping tools.

Make a Knife from a Kit

Perfect for those who’d like to skip the forging step and instead use a roughed-out, pre-hardened steel blank. You’ll jump straight into shaping, attaching a handle and sharpening the blade, ending the day with a fully finished knife.

Forge a Blacksmith’s Knife

Forge like a viking! This minimalist, historic knife course focuses on introducing you to the basics; drawing out material using a hammer and a forge, refining your shape, heat treating and sharpening. The minimalist approach allows you to perfect the basics, while still finishing with a highly functional, lifetime tool.

Make a Simple Garden Knife + Leather Sheath

Dip your toes into both blacksmithing and leatherworking in this beginner’s class. You will finish up with a razor-sharp, functional knife and a protective leather sheath to keep the edge safe.
